Who we are

Schulunterricht zu Hause e.V., (Schuzh) is a national organization. Through our attorneys, we offer legal counsel in issues related to homeschooling.

The concept of organization is very important. The saying, "united we stand, divided we fall", is our motto here at Schulunterricht zu Hause e.V. (Schuzh). Schuzh was formed in 2000 with the intention of uniting homeschool families and organizations into one voice, thus giving us a powerful lobby in government. We also understood that we needed the help from the legal sector if we were going to succeed. For example, when a family teaching their children at home was summoned to appear before school authorities or the court, the family, when representing itself, had not the legal knowledge nor the experience to win their case.

Families believed that they had no choice but to leave their home and sustenance in Germany and flee to Austria. Others have fled to Switzerland, France, South Africa, Denmark, America and Canada. Courts have argued that homeschooling causes parallel societies, which they say is unhealthy. True democracies are all about minorities or pluralities of peoples! In a healthy democracy, diversity is important and necessary or else you have a totalitarian government that aims to produce a one and only mainstream society like under communism. In a healthy democracy, the school system must be competitive and education diverse.

It is not the intention of Schuzh to trespass or bypass other organizations. Our aim is to simply support these organizations thus enabling them to be more effective and have a voice nationally for their agenda. Our main interest, which is apparent with our name, Schulunterricht zu Hause e.V., is to see homeschooling become legalized in Germany according to the constitution where parental rights and obligations toward their children are clearly recognized and safeguarded.

Schuzh, because we have the expertise and legal counsel of the finest law offices Germany has to offer, draws from a pool of experience in how to approach government and school authorities on an individual, case by case basis.

Schuzh is leading the charge in the courts, in the media and in the political arena. Schuzh has been involved in presenting several cases before the European Court of Human Rights. Articles and interviews influenced by Schuzh are found in newspapers, radio and television across the country. Meetings with government officials are becoming more frequent.

Lastly, though the board members are all Christians, Schuzh is not exclusive and does not deal in the arena of theology. We represent Christians from many denominations, Jews and non-believers alike. Our goal is to win the right of parents to homeschool their children. To accomplish this goal, we need members and donors enabling us to have a powerful voice in government and before the courts. Won't you please join us in our efforts.
